James Russell Jaberg 75, of 4842 Valley Drive Berlin, died Saturday, January 23, 2010 in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a brief illness. He was born November 19, 1934 in Holmes County to the late Lister and Irma (Brand) Jaberg. He attended elementary school at the Trail one room schoolhouse and graduated from Walnut Creek High School in 1952. He was an Army Veteran with foreign service from 1955-57. He was a member of the First Mennonite Church of Sugarcreek and an avid Hiland Hawk Basketball fan. He was employed as a truck driver for Sugarcreek Cartage, a dairy farmer, a coal miner with the former Hardy Coal, was farm equipment delivery man with the former Horrisberger Implement at Walnut Creek, a maintenance man with the former Semac Industries and for Riverview Industries at Wooster. He is survived by his wife Sue (Miller) Jaberg whom he married on April 14, 1962, daughter Myrna Jaberg of Columbus and a son David (Annette) Jaberg of Glencoe, IL, grandson Reed James Jaberg and granddaughter Mallory Katharine Jaberg. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 27, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the First Mennonite Church at Sugarcreek with Rev. Jayne Byler officiating. Burial will follow in the Walnut Creek Mennonite Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5-8 PM in Smith-Varns Funeral Home at 1018 W. Main St. Sugarcreek.
